David Galstyan

Choreographer, Director of the Yerevan State College of Dance


He was born on May 19, 1985 in Yerevan. He is the son of the artist of ballet, dance teacher Vilen Galstyan and ballet artist Nadezhda Davtyan. He studied in the secondary school of Yerevan after Yeghishe Charents, 1994-2001 at Yerevan Dancing Art State College. In 2001 he took part in the International Competition of Dance of Lozan city of Switzerland and received Nuriev scholarship and an offer to continue his studies at the Royal School of Ballet of England (Covent Garden) where he studied during 2001-2004. In England he combined his work in this famous dance ensemble and Royal Ballet of Birmingham. Finishing school with honor, after three years he was admitted to work in the Ballet Troup of State Theatre of Capital of Toulouse where he worked till 2022. Later he graduated from the department of Art and Communication of Mirail State University of Toulouse, as well as Supreme Institute of Art and Design of Toulouse getting the qualification of a dancer- professor. As a leading solo dancer, she danced leading roles in classical and contemporary ballets. She played in the following ballet performances L. Minkus’s Don Quixote (Bazil), La Bayadere (Solor), L. Delibes Coppelia (Franz), Selfideas (James), P. Chaykovski’s Nutcracker (Prince), The sleeping beauty (Blue bird), Died Queen (Don Pedro), Skaters (Blue guy), Paquita (Leading role), The time of willful woman (Hortensia), Brel (Bourgeois), Paganini, Carmen, 7th symphony of Beethoven, Symphonetta, The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, The Rite of Spring, We love Mozart, A. Adan’s Giselle (Count Albert), The pirate Corsaire, H. Soggette’s Mirage (Youngster), Hayden Beauty and the Beast (the Beast), J. Balanchine Prodigal son, A. Glazunov Raymonda (Jean de Brienne), S. Prokofiev Romeo and Juliet (Romeo), J. Bizet Carmen (Jose), J. Verdi The Three Musketeers (D’Artagnan), P. Tchaikovsky Themes and Variations (Staged by G. Balanchine), Pas de Deux (Staged by Balanchine), Tarantella Pas de Deux (Staged by G. Balanchine), etc… He took part in a number of international ballet festivals, he had tourneys in Italy, China, Spain, Russia, Philippines, Latvia, France and in other states, performed on a number of stages of the world; Praha, Shanghai, Palermo, Yerevan, etc… The ballets Opus Arte shot the ballets Le Corsaire and The Dead Queen with his participation (leading character) and also released videos. In 2011 he was awarded The best artist prize of Lausanne Festival. He was awarded the tile Danseur Étoile by the mayor of Paris. In 2021 he was awarded a certificate of right of managing primary (vocational) and secondary professional educational institution. Since 2022 he has been managing Yerevan Dancing Art State College.
